More likely than not, the underlying causes of depression are not in the head. Stress and negative thoughts can indeed contribute to depression, but based on available scientific and clinical evidence, most often depression is set off by one or a combination of the four triggers:
- Mind (stress and persistent negative thoughts or rumination).
- Environmental toxins (including mold infection and food intolerance/sensitivity).
- Gut (dysbiosis and leaky gut).
- Malnutrition (mainly micronutrition deficits such as in vitamins and minerals).
Research has unequivocally shown one or any combination of these four risk factors can trigger depression. And in practice, open-minded progressive clinicians have clearly demonstrated depression can be healed by addressing these four underlying causes.
Bear in mind, no disorders will go away unless the root causes are fixed. There are no depression genes, and our brain does not lack antidepressants. Read more here.
